T cells are a key component of adaptive immunity, our natural system of defence against pathogens like bacteria and viruses. When they recognize pathogens, massive changes in their physiology occur and they differentiate into effector cells equipped with the proper means for the pathogens' removal. We investigate how these changes are regulated and explore what happens in cases the pathogen does not get cleared but persists for extended periods of time. Read more...
