Biochemistry
Welcome to the Division of Biochemistry at the Ludwig Maximilians University Munich. Our research is devoted to the discovery of cellular and molecular mechanisms of dementia. We are specifically interested in Alzheimer's disease and Frontotemporal Lobar Degeneration. A major focus includes the identification of target molecules, which can be modulated in future therapeutic approaches. We are using interdisciplinary approaches ranging from biophysics, biochemistry and cellular and molecular biology to in vivo models and life imaging. Our work is embedded in the Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology (Synergy). We are a partner institute of the German Center for Neurodegenerative Diseases (DZNE).
