DFG funds CRC 1054 for another funding period

On 27 November 2020, the German Research Foundation (DFG) announced that the Collaborative Research Cluster (CRC) 1054 “Control and Plasticity of Cell Fate Decisions in the Immune System” will receive funding for another four years. The CRC 1054, coordinated by Prof. Thomas Brocker from the Institute for Immunology, is funded since 2013 and will enter its third and last funding period in 2021.

The CRC 1054 focuses on T cells and investigates the relationship between extracellular and intracellular signals and T cell differentiation. The long-term research goal of CRC 1054 is to identify targets that allow the control of immune cell differentiation for specific therapeutic manipulation.

In the CRC 1054, scientists from different research institutions in Munich collaborate. It joins researchers from the BMC, further LMU institutes, the LMU University Hospital, the TU Munich and the University Hospital rechts der Isar as well as the Helmholtz Zentrum München. A long list of publications in internationally renowned journals demonstrates the success of the collaborative work within the research cluster. For PhD students, CRC 1054 offers comprehensive training in a graduate program.
