Gymnasium students visit the BMC

A lot of interesting questions were asked by a student delegation from the Otto-von-Taube-Gymnasium (Gauting), who visited the Department of Anatomy and Cell Biology at the BMC. In the framework of the Junior Science-Café initiative, in which high school students and teachers explore scientific questions, eleven pupils of the 8th and 9th grade chose the topic “Modern coma and stroke research – what happens in the brain?”. The pupils participated in lectures, a laboratory tour and a practical exercise, and learned about methods of brain research and the functionality and structure of the brain. Prof. Michael Kiebler and his team led by Dr. Christine Wild-Bode and Christiane Bühning discussed and answered the group's questions about the causes and effects of stroke and coma.
