Farewell Lecture on June 15, 2018
Professor Ulrich Pohl, Senior Professor of Vegetative Physiology and co-founder of the Biomedical Center, took leave of his academic colleagues with a fascinating lecture “Malpighi, mechanisms, molecules – where does the path lead?”.
Addressing a full lecture hall, he provided a broad perspective of this research area, spanning achievements from founding discoveries in the field to present-day high-resolution live-cell imaging. Over the last two decades, Professor Pohl himself has contributed to the field of research with a great number of valuable insights. As his lecture demonstrated, with his well-earned retirement Professor Pohl puts behind him years of dedicated professorship, not only as an excellent researcher, but also as a charismatic and inspired teacher. With characteristic good humor, he provided some words of wisdom on life in academia and good scientific conduct to his young colleagues and future professors in the audience.
