CAM offers Animal Welfare Award

To recognize outstanding ideas and initiatives around animal welfare and sustainability in animal experimental research, the Core Facility Animal Models (CAM) announces an Animal Welfare Award.

Project ideas or publications that address the "3R" and "3RCAM" principles are eligible for submission. "3R" refers to the publication "The Principles of Humane Experimental Technique" by Russell and Burch (1959) and stands for Reduce, Replace, Refine in animal experimental research. The goal is to reduce animal testing, develop alternative procedures, and minimize the burden on laboratory animals. "3RCAM" extends the 3Rs principle to include the aspect of sustainability in the operation of the animal husbandry (Reuse, Recycle) and the human-animal relationship (Responsibility: Respect, Rehoming).

Anyone working with or in the CAM can submit entries now through 31 Dec 2022.
