Sustainable World 2022: Global Challenges for Life Scientists

Registration is open – all are welcome!

We cordially invite you to participate in the upcoming campus event Sustainable World 2022: Global Challenges for Life Scientists

Our focus: Transformation!
Our goal is to give students and scientists the opportunity to hear about transformation experiences and solutions for our sustainability crisis from different experts, but also to provide a platform for discussion and exchange on the topic of transformation. We look forward to a day of opinions and ideas, fed on enthusiasm, curiosity, open-mindedness and conviction. Join us!

Date: Thursday, September 29, 2022
Time: 9:00 - 17:00
Venue: Biomedical Centrum Munich (BMC), Großhaderner Str. 9, 82152 Planegg-Martinsried
Target Group: Students, doctoral and post-doctoral researchers, junior and senior scientists in the natural and physical sciences of the LMU, TUM and Munich institutions. All interested are welcome!

Keynote lectures:

  • The potential of renewable energies – Prof. Dr. Christian Holler, University of Applied Sciences, Munich
  • Return to a human scale: an industrial regime change – Dr. Bruno Kern, Initiative Ökosozialismus
  • Sustainable development as an educational mission – Dr. Isolde von Bülow, GraduateCenterLMU Munich
  • Delivering sustainability in scientific organisations – Lessons from EMBL – Brendan Antony Rouse, EMBL Heidelberg

After a break, the program continues with an interactive and participatory World Café (moderated by Hanno Langfelder from Green City e.V.) followed by a poster session and networking opportunity with Munich initiatives.

We encourage you to take this opportunity to learn, but also be a voice and agent of change in this open event. Refreshments will be offered in the morning and afternoon. In this spirit of participation (and to avoid waste), please register with intention of attending the entire program.
