Alzheimer – disease development, research findings, questions

The DFG's podcast series Exzellent erklärt - Spitzenforschung für alle presents one of the 57 German Clusters of Excellence in each episode. In episode 2, the focus is on the SyNergy cluster. Synergy stands for Munich Cluster for Systems Neurology and the scientists involved are researching various neurological diseases, including Alzheimer's disease. This dementia disease is also the research topic of Prof. Dr. Christian Haass, spokesman of the Synergy cluster and head of the division of Metabolic Biochemistry at the Biomedical Center. In the podcast, he explains what is known about Alzheimer's disease from a molecular perspective, what the most pressing questions are and what progress has been made in drug development.
